End of Life Funeral Planning

Planning a funeral in advance is becoming more popular. I am extremely happy to work with you should you want to draft your own celebration of life. The funeral will then be exactly as you want it to be.

Planning your funeral service now eases the pressure off those nearest and dearest to you at a time they are invariably having to cope with their own great loss and grief. Knowing that you have planned your own ceremony can bring great comfort to your loved ones knowing that they are carrying out your wishes to the letter. I work independently to funeral directors and other services that offer funeral plan services. If you have one of these it may be an idea to talk to them about your plans.

Funeral Planning, Carlisle
Funeral Celebrant in Carlisle, Cumbria

I will work with you and your loved ones to help you prepare the ceremony. You have the freedom of having the content you desire as there are no rules. I will concentrate on your life story, your greatest achievements, your likes and dislikes, your happy moments and maybe your sad moments too. I will write the service, which can go back and forth between us however often is needed until it is perfect. I will send you the script to be kept safely. I will endeavour to deliver your funeral if you wish for no extra cost (there may be a charge for mileage if you’re not within 50 miles of Carlisle), but if, for whatever reason I am unavailable on the day I will organize for another celebrant to deliver my script.

Talking about your funeral wishes can help you and your family and friends to organise your final goodbye that feels just right.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Image
You get in contact with me via email, message, phone call, facebook, Instagram, or in person and we have initial chat about your requirements and wishes. You can give me a date and I will see if it is available. If it is then let’s meet up. We get to know each other, and you can decide if you would like me to be your celebrant.

Once you have decided I am the one for you I ask that you pay me a deposit of £100. The fees can be found below

We meet up in person or over Zoom, Skype, FaceTime and we get to know each other even more. This can take between 1-2 hours but there is no limit. At this meeting I want to get to know all about you and your life story. This helps me make your ceremony totally unique and personal. We can talk about where you were born, siblings and family members you grew up with, your time at school and any childhood stories, all your family members and friends, your careers and places of work, do you belong to any groups or societies. I will talk to you and your loved ones about your personality, your character, hobbies and achievements, your favourite memories, any significant events, how will you like to be remembered and do you have any personal requests about your funeral? We also talk about what ideas you have for your ceremony – will anybody else be speaking? Choices can be made from my wide selection of poetry and readings. Any additional pieces that hold special meaning or significance for you can be included. I will help you decide how they could be arranged and presented. You may want a family member or close friend to do a reading or make a speech.

I go away and compose a draft script for your ceremony using all the information I have gained from us meeting.

It is important for me to say there are no restrictions on how many times we re-write the draft ceremony. It has to be absolutely perfect. If there is anything you don’t like, just let me know I really don’t mind.

When I have the final draft I will add in any readings, poems or speeches so everything is well timed.

I will present you with your script in a keepsake box for you to keep safe.
