Frequently Asked Questions

WEDDINGS

IS A CELEBRANT-LED CEREMONY LEGAL?

The most important question first! No, it is not legally binding which is why there are no limitations and hard fast rules to follow. The only real permission you need is from the venue or land-owner, otherwise you have complete freedom to do as you choose. Just as you are required to register births and deaths at your local registry you have to do this with marriages. It is preferrable but not necessary that you carry out the legal aspects first. This is a simple wedding service where you need 2 witnesses which can be as low key as you like. You don’t even have to exchange vows or rings you can save that until the celebrant-led ceremony which will be as unique and special as you are!

NAMING CEREMONIES

WHAT IS A NAMING CEREMONY?

A naming ceremony is an extremely special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming the new arrival into your family, the community and world! Your child does not have to be a newborn to have a naming ceremony – there is no limit on age. It is an occasion for everyone to feel involved by pledging their love and support for your child now and forever more.

FUNERALS AND CELEBRATIONS OF LIFE

WHAT IS A CIVIL FUNERAL?

Perhaps the best description of a civil funeral is one which allows those people that are the nearest and dearest of the loved one that has died an opportunity to shape the funeral of the life of that person into a ceremony that reflects their loves, values and beliefs, in a way that is most appropriate to them.
